Why Families Become Ambassadors
Every Family Ambassador has a story — one rooted in trust, gratitude, and the moments that make a community feel like home.
Families choose to share their experiences because they’ve seen the difference firsthand: the comfort of knowing their loved one is cared for, the relationships built with staff and neighbors, and the peace of mind that comes from feeling supported every day. These stories are shaped by small but meaningful moments — a warm greeting, a helping hand, a shared laugh, or the reassurance that someone is always there.
For many families, becoming a Family Ambassador is a natural extension of their journey. It’s a way to give back, to recognize the care and compassion they’ve experienced, and to help other families feel more confident as they navigate their own senior living decisions.
Together, these shared stories reflect the heart of our community — a place built on connection, trust, and the belief that no family should feel alone in this journey.

“I find that Boulder Ponds provides exemplary care to elders and their families. The entire staff is friendly, helpful and caring. There is an environment of love, patience and wanting to do the very best for each and every person. They communicate well with families, so they know their loved one’s needs are being met, which gives families peace of mind. I have been involved, day in day out, for the last 3 years with Boulder Ponds. Every person I have encountered has been exceptional in their care for resident and families. Of all the senior living communities I have seen and experienced, Boulder Ponds is the very best!”
– Mary McDonald, Family Ambassador
“After touring eight assisted living facilities in the Maplewood, Oakdale, Woodbury and Lake Elmo area, it was an easy decision to choose Boulder Ponds for our mother. The staff are SO friendly! And, the rooms are so bright and welcoming! We liked that you could enter the facility as an independent resident and as needed, extra services could be provided without having to move to a different room! Mom is very happy with the decision to move to Boulder Ponds!
The weekly activities provide something for everyone! Whether you just want to meet new friends or if you’re used to having an active social life, you can set your own pace!
Knowing that my husband would need more care than I could provide in the future due to an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, I placed him on the Memory Care waiting list after only a month of my mother being a resident of Boulder Ponds because I was confident that the facility would be the best place for him also. He is a resident of the Boulder Ponds Memory Care now.
Whether I’m walking in the Boulder Ponds front door, in an elevator or in a hallway, I am always greeted by each and every staffer I encounter! In addition, the nurses and aides are so caring for all of the residents. It takes a special kind of person to be an aide, (especially in the memory care unit) and Boulder Ponds does a great job of finding and hiring those special people!
What I truly appreciate the most is the fact that Boulder Ponds has an open door when it comes to any concerns that residents or their family members may have. They are quick to respond to and address concerns and want everyone living at the facility to be happy, healthy and safe.”

“My mom’s in the Legacy area and one day she was sitting on her on a small stool and she had slipped right off of it trying to open a box and she said before she could even think about what to do while she was on the floor, the fall detection system that’s in the corner of her room detected it, sent it to one of the staff and somebody was in there taking care of her right away. So, gosh, the peace of mind is just fabulous here.
My mom has fallen in love with all of her caregivers from the nurses to the aids to the people who make the food and bring it down to the legacy area. They use a little humor and my mom needs that. She loves it when somebody comes in, and they have a funny story or they say something funny to her. The staff is so patient, way more patient than I am. Every time my mom has a question, they will answer it. She has that same question, they will answer it again. You have the same question, they answer it a third time. The patience level of everyone here and they’re so friendly. I am here quite a bit, and I’ve never heard a cross word to anyone that’s here as a resident or as co-workers. They’re just awesome.
Our family receives a letter in her room every month that tells us about different activities that are going to be going on so we can be aware of them. The activities director also keeps in touch with my mom all the time um letting her know what activities are coming up and she’ll forget when activities coming up. So, they’ll let you know that same day, hey do you want to come down? Also, the nursing team is awesome before my mom can get on the phone to tell me something’s happened. They’ve already called us and alerted us to any concerns they have or any concerns that she has.”
